“The promise offered by a quality education has always resonated with me, and I firmly believe that all children have the aptitude to learn. My personal experience has also made me acutely aware that not every student is presented with the same level of opportunity. This understanding served as a call to action and became the catalyst for finding a way to directly impact educational systems. My goal is to use project management and problem-solving skills honed in the private sector to aid in effecting changes that will empower principals and teachers to provide increasingly relevant education to a larger percentage of the school age population.”

Kirstyn Fields is a project manager for the career and technical education unit of Chicago Public Schools’ Department of College and Career Preparation. In this role, Fields created and executed the marketing and communications strategy to meet application submission targets for the launch of the new college and career academies at CPS high schools. Her work on school support models also laid the groundwork for the addition of academy coordinators to serve as school-based operations and integration managers for the academies. Prior to joining The Broad Residency, Fields worked at Chase bank and its predecessor companies for seven years. She directed student marketing programs and subsequently planned and coordinated media buying for the consumer banking arm of JPMorgan Chase within Chase Retail Marketing. Previously, as part of the corporate strategy team, Fields led cross-functional teams to meet high priority objectives benefiting multiple lines of business by framing problems and facilitating collaborative development and execution of solutions by key stakeholders. Her involvement in education included chairing the associate board of a local college access program and directing her church’s math tutorial ministry. Fields holds a bachelor’s of business administration degree in finance from Howard University and a master’s degree in business administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Fields is a participant in The Broad Residency in Urban Education (Class of 2009-2011), serving her two-year Residency at Chicago Public Schools.
